Before You Book

Questions About Our Dessert Service?

Here's everything to know about bringing The Strawberry Shortcake to your event.

Booking

How do I book you?

Booking is simple - just head online to reserve your date! And if you have any questions along the way, we'd love to chat with you over the phone about our service. Just keep in mind that quotes are handled through email only, so we won't be able to share pricing over the phone.

How do I check if my date is available?

Just pop over to our website and fill out our formβ€”that's the sweetest way to check! We've got multiple trucks and cuisines ready to bring the fun, so don't be shy about reaching out!

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

All cancellation and reschedule policies can be found in our booking terms linked in the footer of our website. You'll also get a copy with your catering agreement when you book.

Can the serving time change after I book?

Sweet question! Sometimes yes, sometimes no. We make commitments to other parties based on our commitment to you, so if your proposed time change would conflict with another party we already committed to based on our original commitment with you, we wouldn't be able to make the change.

How far in advance should I book?

For the best pick of dates, we recommend booking 4-8 weeks ahead β€” but don't worry if you're in a sweet rush, week-of bookings are typically available too! Just know that if your first choice is already taken, we may need to sweeten things up with a backup option instead.

Can I check availability before I know every detail?

We totally get wanting to check early, but it's tricky to pin down availability until we know your location and time β€” without those, it's a bit like throwing darts at a wall!

What are your payment terms?

Payment terms are dictated by your catering agreement. They are also found in the booking terms in the footer of our website.

What information do you need to give me a quote?

We just need a few sweet little details to whip up your quote: your date, time, address, and guest count!

Pricing & terms

What happens to my price if the event changes?

We're happy to update your event details for youβ€”just know that once your guest count is confirmed, it can't be scaled back. If any approved changes affect your price, we'll send over a revised quote so it's all sweet and clear.

What affects the price of my event?

Your price comes down to a few simple things: the date you pick, how long you'd like us there, how many guests you're serving, and where your event takes place.

Is gratuity included or expected?

Gratuity is not included or added automatically. Tipping is optional, and any cash or card tip goes directly to the crew serving your event.

Are there any fees I should know about up front?

Your written quote shows all charges before you book, including any travel, taxes, or booking fees. We do not add fees after you accept the quote unless your event changes and you approve a revised price.

Is there a minimum spend?

Most events have a minimum based on the date, location, guest count, and service time. We will confirm your minimum in writing before you book.

Do you offer fixed per-person pricing?

Sometimes. Pricing may be per person, package-based, or subject to a minimum depending on the event. Your quote will clearly show how your price is structured.

What is included in the quote you send me?

Your quote covers dessert service for the guest count you've told us, plus all the plates, utensils, and serving supplies that come with your chosen service β€” sweet and simple, just how we like it!

How is your pricing structured?

Every event is quoted individually based on the menu, guest count, service time, and location. Your accepted quote is your price unless you approve a later revision.

Are there travel fees, and how far will you travel?

Travel fees may apply based on where our serving team is coming from. If there is a travel charge, it will be listed on your quote before you book. Service range varies by date and location.

How do you work out travel costs?

Travel costs come down to where our serving truck is coming from and how far it needs to go to reach your event. We're based in many major metro areas, and we can travel beyond them when available!

Food

Can the menu be adjusted for our event?

Absolutely, we can sweeten things up and adjust the menu for you! Our standard menus are our most popular picks, crafted to be approachable and please a crowd. But if you already know just what you're craving, let us know and we can quote that instead.

How is your food actually cooked?

Our treats are made with love β€” part of the magic happens in our commissary, part right on our truck, all whipped up in small batches just like we'd make for our own family.

Do you have kid-friendly options?

We absolutely have kid-friendly options! Just let us know what you're thinking ahead of time. Since kids can be picky, it helps to tell us what your little ones like, so we can make sure we get it just right. Every kid is different, and we're happy to make them happy!

What do you refuse to compromise on?

Quality and responsiveness β€” always. Communication is the key that gives you the reassurance we know what you want and how to pull it off. The food is what makes your event go smooth.

What do guests notice most about your food?

Passion and love, plain and simple. Our teams don't cook because they "can." They cook because they want to.

What sides and drinks come with it?

Every menu comes with its own set of options, and we can make changes where needed! As for drinks, we keep it simple with a sweet assortment of soda and water, which can vary by region.

What do you serve?

We're happy to sweeten up parties everywhere! Most of our events are private, but you'll also spot us at public events tooβ€”we just have required sales minimums for every party based on our inputs.

Dietary

How do you handle food allergies?

We are very sensitive to guest needs. We put the upmost care into accommodating, but we only know the dietary restrictions you tell us up front. If there are severe allergies or needs please let our team know up front.

Do you offer gluten-friendly options?

We absolutely do!

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We can accommodate for almost any situation as long as we know up front. Surprises on site don't usually go well for our team or your guests.

Do you offer a vegetarian option?

Sweetness for everyone! Every one of our menus includes a vegetarian option. You're welcome to choose your own menu, but we highly recommend keeping at least one vegetarian option on it, since it's such a common dietary habit among guests.

Service & the day

How early do you arrive before service starts?

We like to show up 30-60 minutes before service starts! We give ourselves this window since you just never know how traffic will be.

How do you communicate with hosts before and during the event?

The moment our team pulls up on-site, we give the host a call to say we've arrived and find out where we should park. Before the big day, you'll get an email 24-48 hours prior to your party with the day-of contact info for the truck team. We also have a sweet little automated email that pops up before the event to double check nothing's changed with your party β€” that way we can be all set for you!

How long does service take for a larger event?

For bigger events, we typically dish out sweetness to about 60-80 guests per hour! The exact pace depends on how streamlined your menu is and what your sweet vision looks like. For extra-large gatherings, we love teaming up with some of our partner trucks to help keep the line moving and the smiles coming.

What happens to leftover food?

We'll happily take any leftovers home to dispose of them, or the host is welcome to keep them! Just give us a heads-up 15 minutes prior to service if you'd like to keep the extras, so we can bundle everything up sweetly and head off to our next event on time.

How does the serving line actually move?

Every party has its own rhythm! The part that can slow things down is chatting through the menu at the window and getting everyone's order just right. Our goal is always to get those sweet treats into hands fast β€” but we can only move as quickly as your guests decide what they want. Here's a happy little tip: if guests know the menu ahead of time, the line moves so much faster!

What do you do when the line gets long?

When the line gets long, we keep the good times rolling! We shift into batch modeβ€”whipping up 2-3 orders at a time and cooking ahead to the back of the line, so we've always got a few of each treat ready to go the moment they're ordered. That means nothing sits around or goes staleβ€”every order goes out within a minute or two, and we're already cooking up the next batch to keep the line moving sweetly along.

What does setup look like on event day?

We usually roll in about 30-60 minutes before service, traffic willing! Since most of our prep is done ahead of time, we just pull up, open the window right on schedule, and start dishing out the sweetness. Once we've reached the end of the time frame - or every last guest has been treated - we quietly pack up the truck and head out.

Do you provide plates, napkins, and utensils?

Sweet newsβ€”we bring along all the cutlery and disposables needed so guests can enjoy their treats without a hitch! Just know we don't provide extras for items we aren't serving.

What happens at the end of service?

At the end of it all, we give a big thank-you to our host, tidy everything back into the truck, and drive off into the sunset β€” sweet and simple, just like our shortcakes.

Site & logistics

What if my venue has tight or unusual access?

No worries, sweet friend β€” tight or tricky access just means we get a little creative with our parking and setup! We're happy to share our truck's exact sizes ahead of time so you can double-check everything fits. As a good rule of thumb, we like to have 40ftx10ftx12ft tall available, with upwards of 50 ft to get a trailer in. And if worst comes to worst, we'll simply park somewhere safe (no dings, no dents!) and set up a little farther away β€” because no matter what, everyone gets their sweet treat!

What makes a site difficult to serve?

When venues step in and try to call the shots on food service, that's where things get tricky. They may have the perfect space, but not the kitchen or food setup to make it work. We love what we do, and we want every event to be a sweet success for everyone involved!

What do you need from us on the day?

We just need a clear, level space to park in. It also helps to have someone answer the phone as we arrive so we can find our way to the right spot!

Can you serve indoors, or do you need to be outside?

We're happy to bring the sweet treats indoors! Most of the time, fire code requires ventilation to be inside or cooking from electric β€” but don't worry, it's something we can figure out together if needed!

Who handles permits and venue approvals?

Permits and venue approvals are handled by the host! We can provide licensing and proof of insurance, but we do not pull event permits or pay venue costs on a host's behalf.

Do you need power or water hookups?

Nope, once we're parked, we're all set β€” no power or water hookups needed!

How much space do you need to set up?

We usually ask for 40ftx10ft of space for our truck and 50ftx10ft for our trailer setup β€” though once we're parked, the truck can detach from the trailer to shrink our footprint even further!

Can you serve at a school, park, venue, or private property?

Absolutely! We're mobile and we'll bring the sweetness straight to you!

Events

What kinds of events do you cater?

We'd love to sweeten up events of all sizes and styles! If you need great dessert, we would love to help.

What kind of event are you the best fit for?

We're happy to sweeten just about any event β€” as long as there's great food involved! We don't fuss over the type of event; what matters most to us is the experience we create for hosts and guests alike.

What's the most memorable event you've done?

We've served all kinds of eventsβ€”weddings, country super-stars, professional athletesβ€”but nothing quite compares to that first time you watch your dream roll to life and drive that truck out for its very first job. Those early moments, right when you're just getting started, are the ones that stick with your heart forever.

Is there a minimum guest count?

No minimum guest count here! We just ask for a minimum spend to get the sweetness started.

What size events can you handle?

We can handle events of all sizes! For smaller parties we send one truck, and for larger parties we've sent as many as 17 trucks. It all depends on your vision.

The unexpected

What if you run out of food?

We whip up just enough sweetness to match the guest count you give us upfront β€” no more, no less. That's why an accurate headcount is so important; it's how we make sure everyone gets their treat! Since we're a mobile kitchen, we don't have big fridges and freezers to stash extra goodies should the guest count turn out to be higher than expected. But good news the other way: if your guest count ends up lower than anticipated, all those leftover treats are yours to keep and enjoy!

What do hosts most often forget to ask?

Dietary restrictions! It's a sweet and simple fix when we know ahead of time, but once our kitchen has introduced gluten and half your guests turn out to be GF, it's hard to eliminate that gluten with 100% certainty. Just give us a heads-up early, and we'll make sure every guest gets a treat they can enjoy.

What happens if you're delayed getting to the venue?

Good question! Since we're a mobile setup, delays can happen β€” usually only if there's a bad accident blocking traffic. It's rare, but if it does happen, we're happy to stay late to make sure everyone gets their sweet treat. Accidents aren't our fault or your fault, but we always want to make sure you get everything you paid for.

What happens if more guests show up than we told you?

There is a chance we run out of food. Its good practice to overestimate by 10-15% to make sure everyone gets fed.

What's your plan if the weather turns bad?

We show up rain, snow, wind, or shine. We can always pack things in to-go containers.

Proof & trust

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. All our teams hold a health license and insurance.

What makes you different from other caterers?

We'll be honest β€” we're not about to say our food beats every other truck out there. Truth is, our fellow food truck friends serve up great eats too. We just happen to think ours is a little more super sweet. What really sets us apart is how we talk to you. We pick up the phone every time, answer emails around the clock, and always text you back. No matter how you reach out, we're there to respond.

Can you provide insurance or vendor documentation?

We can provide that when requested. Please note on COI's our agents can take up to 7 days. We are unable to change our policies for events.

How long have you been doing this?

We've been sprinkling sweetness since 2016, starting with our very first truck, and we've slowly adapted and grown ever since. Let us know how we can serve you something sweet!

Why should we book you?

As owner-operators, we know this truck inside and out β€” every sweet detail. We're not just your caterers, we're your co-hosts for the day. We'll always be upfront about what our truck can and can't do, so you're never left guessing.

Where you serve

Why do you need the exact event address?

We'd love to give you a quote, but we just can't do it without knowing where we're headed! Mileage is one of our biggest cost drivers, so your exact event address helps us figure out the sweetest, fairest price for you.

Can you serve nearby towns outside the main city?

Absolutely! We're mobile, so we can go wherever you are!

Where do you serve?

We serve private parties everywhere! Reach out today β€” we've got a team ready and able to sweeten up your event.
